Is my loss good

Hi. I subsrcibed to this chat and have been reading
since before my surgery. I had an open RNY 9/27/02.
Other than a few complications keeping down food in
the first month post-op, I seems to be okay. At my
last weigh-in, I had lost 92#. I started at 381.5#.
I have my next weigh-in on 4/23. But now I am
worried. I looked at a chart on obesityhelp.com and
it made me feel that my weight loss is a little slow.
According to the chart, I should have been at this
loss around my 3rd month. I beginning to feel like I
will not reach my goal, which is to acheive anything
less than 200#. The thoughts are beginning to consume
me so much so that I am opting for drinking water and
crystal lite in place of food, unless I really feel
sick. Help. I need to hear from someone that has

been here. Family means well, but they can’t imagine
what this experience is like.

Darcel, you can’t go by a chart to determine what your weightloss "should"
be. I am almost at 5 months out and am down 48 lbs. You’re over twice that,
    and only 2 months more.
Weightloss is determined by several factors
1.starting weight (the higher, the faster)
    2. age (the older, the slower)
    3. exercise/water/protein (the more the better)
I started at 242 (BMI of 43), am 57, and don’t get enough water or exercise.
I know that. This has all affected my weightloss. But I have several
problems that preclude a strong exercise program, and until the last month
or so have had problems with drinking water… although that’s going away
    now.

If you stop eating, your body will shut down (go into hibernation mode).
Just be sure you’re getting your 64 oz of water a day, you’re getting *some*

exercise, you’re starting your meals with protein first and not drinking
with your meals and that you’re not doing what I call "white carbs" and that
you’re getting your vitamins and protein drinks in. You will be healthier
and happier. STAY OFF THE SCALES <G>. You have 18 months to 2 years to lose
this weight, and you CAN do it. But you’ve got a tool here, not the answer,
so it will depend on how you use it. Focus on how you’re using it, not on
    the numbers.

Dear Darcel, Perhaps you body is just differant from everyone elses? TRUEPerhaps
you should not measure your accomplishments against everyone elses? TRUE I
would just like to know are you able to excersise? If so how often are you doing
it? Have you up’d your reps? time, etcAre you drinking any protien drinks? Taking
your multi vitamin? These are things that I hear others on here ask of those of
you that are post op..and have reached plateaus or are worried that you are not
losing weight like you should. I figure as long as you are following the plan,
pouch rules, excersiseing, and drinking protien drinks..then you should not
compare yourself to others and figure that you are doing the best for
yourself..and if your not doing some or all of these things..perhaps you should
consider trying them…Hope you feel better soon~ Erin
