I was wondering how bad I can expect the scarring to be fom the open
RNY. Anybody have any before and after pics?

I can tell you my experience with scarring so far…
At first the scar/wound seemed HUGE (like 7-8 inches long). I think that was
because of swelling. Eventually (I’m not even three months out from my surgery)
my scar has gotten considerably smaller - like 4-5 inches - and I think it will
get even smaller as my stomach gets smaller. ALSO, as soon as I got the OK from
my doctor, I started putting Vitamin E on the scar twice a day. I swear by it!
It’s already starting to fade considerably. You can buy the actual Vitamin E
gel tabs and poke them with a pin and put the oil right on the scar. OR, I
found this stuff that is a mix of Vit. E, aloe and paba. My only warning is, be
careful that it doesn’t get on your shirt. I went a little crazy one day and
then put on a silk blouse and suddenly I noticed an oil spot had seeped through
on the blouse. Could have avoided that if I had put a piece of tissue between
my stomach and the blouse.
