The surgeon who is doing my surgery here in Maine, doesn't allow you
to eat for 24 to 48 hours. Plus he makes you drink the yummy stuff
(GoLightly, i think it is called) so that you are completely empty.
makes sense really to me. I don't think they want to have to deal
with food in your stomach when they open it up. Also he gives you a
feeding tube or gastric tube for the first 7 to 10 days. Giving the
pouch plenty of time to heal. Cannot eat or drink in that time.

My initial consult is July 7th with Dr Padiath Aslam in Augusta
Maine. I am sooooo ready for this!!!!

I don't think I've posted on this site before, but I do read all of
the posts. I cannot believe that some people can eat the day before
or day of their surgery. The organization I am going through for the
surgery requires you to be on a liquid diet for 2 weeks prior to
surgery!

I have approval from my insurance company for WLS, and am going
through the eval process now. Hopefully, I will find out my surgery
date by mid July!
