New to Group!

Friday, February 10th, 2006

Hi all - I’m new but have been lurking for a few months and have
really enjoyed everyone’s support and expertise. I’m having open RNY
on June 9. I’m meeting with my surgeon for the first time tomorrow. I
welcome any suggestions for questions I should ask him. I have a list
but I’m sure there is something that you experts can also suggest.

eating before surgery

Friday, February 10th, 2006

I don’t think I’ve posted on this site before, but I do read all of
the posts. I cannot believe that some people can eat the day before
or day of their surgery. The organization I am going through for the
surgery requires you to be on a liquid diet for 2 weeks prior to
surgery!

I have approval from my insurance company for WLS, and am going
through the eval process now. Hopefully, I will find out my surgery
date by mid July!

No Joke-New Virus (OT)

Wednesday, February 8th, 2006

Just wanted to give you a heads up. This showed up on one of my other lists,
and it’s legit.

Just a warning folks, there is a new virus going around. I have a bunch
of email addresses and it’s trying hard to hit them all. Fortunately my
Norton’s has caught them each time.
Here’s the info on it.

Need some help

Wednesday, February 8th, 2006

Hello all,

My name is Danny Groveman, and I live in the Washington DC metro area, in
Silver Spring Md. I have been pursuing surgery for the past 6 months. I
am insured with Aetna USHealthcare HMO. To make a long story shorter, I am
looking for a surgeon in this area who takes Aetna UShealthcare HMO. I had
done research and found a surgeon, Dr. Barry Greene who did take it. I went
through all the required health tests and hoops, only to find out that he
had dropped Aetna because when he did the surgery, they paid him less than
what it costs to do the surgery. In our initial consultation, he stated
that I might be one of the last patients he takes from them. Well, I now in
the position of having gone through all the required tests, and no surgeon.
So, if there is anyone in the metro area, Maryland, DC or Virginia that
knows of a good surgeon that takes Aetna HMO insurance, please let me know.
It is quite disheartening. Thanks.

Wait time

Tuesday, February 7th, 2006

My initial appoinment was in January, and I had my surgery May 5th. I could
of had the surgery sooner, however I had work committments to keep. For me,
the surgery was not that painfull. I took the pain medication in order to
sleep. I had an uneventfull hospital stay.

Does anyone have any information of HIV+ persons having RNY? I have
read a lot about the difficulties taking medications and I am
wondering if there is any info out there. . .
