   The only time it would/should affect you is if you are suicidal. Depression in
   general should not stop you from having WLS.

   Hi everyone,

   I was wondering if others suffer from depression
   because of their weight and health problems? I suffer
   from depression, my health problems,(heart, arthritis
   in my joints and the breakup of a long term marriage).
   I’m currently taking 3 medications for this. I guess
   my main question is, will this have any impact on
   whether or not I would be ok’d for WLS?

   I would greatly appreciate any input.

   Depression is just one of the reasons for seeking WLS. I was very depressed
   and on medication to help treat it prior to surgery.
   I go into my doctor today for a physical and I hope to be off my medications
   for depression and high blood pressure.
