Sorry for your loss and Congratulations for your loss
Lisa,
I think most of the people that opt for the surgery don’t have problems losing
weight on their own. The problem is not losing it, but keeping it off. Most
everyone on this list has come to the point that if they did not take drastic
steps to lose weight and keep it off, they were going to die much younger, and
live the rest of their lives in the misery of being an obese person. The
difficulties of being obese, the health risks of being obese are strong
motivators to doing whatever it takes to remedy it. You may be one of the
unusual and small percentage of people that can lose the weight and keep it off.
However, I came to the point where I simply did not believe that I could lose
the weight AND keep it off. I think most of the people on this list would
agree. It is a very small percentage of people that have complications, much
less die as a result of this operation. I can honestly say that the surgery was
much, much easier than I had dreamed it would be. I thank God and the prayers
of many people for that as well. I congratulate you for your loss, and
sincerely hope you can keep it off. That is truly an accomplishment. I also
offer my condolences for the loss of your friend. Nothing that can be said can
make it any better or easier. However, if you look at the numbers of people
that have opted for this surgery, the restored health and joy, and the hope it
has provided to so many people, I think one can conclude that it is worth the
risk. Yes, it is a risk, as is any major surgery. However, for many it is
worth risking one’s life to grab in hope for a better life, and victory over an
area that they have failed in many, many times.
All the best,
Danny
P. S. As an FYI, most lists frown on typing messages in all caps, as it is
more difficult to read, and is tantamount to shouting.
