Obesity surgery

I had my consult on Fri with Dr Berkowitz at BTC in Belvidere IL.
and he said I was a very good candidate for the open RNY. So now I
wait! Anyone have any experence with Federated Mutual Insurance PPO
and Encompass Health Management Systems thats who I have to go
through.
Also has anyone had there surgery done at BTC in Belvidere? I would
love to chat about your experence.
If you have any tips on getting prepared for surgery please let me
know, I can’t wait for this to happen. I have had surgery in the past
so thats not really bothering me I just want to be ready!!! Thanks in
advance for any help!!!!

I’m just full of questions today. I’m a newbie waiting to have surgery. So of
course I have a lot of fears to deal with. I was wondering if someone could
explain transection for me and let me know if they have had that done and why it
is done.

Has anyone had lap RNY? Has anyone had a leak after surgery? I want to know
what is involved and how they handle this.

I don’t know if I have worn a size 18/20 in a shirt since high school –
just put on a turtle neck and it is an 18/20 and it fits nicely — I tend to
buy things quite big and baggy but took a chance on this d/t the fact that I
figured I’d still be losing.

Hi!! I just joinned the group. My name is Alison and I had the lap
band surgery about 7 weeks ago and I´ve lost almost 20 pounds and I
FEEL GREAT!!!. Actually my surgeon, Dr. Verboonen recommended me to
join this type of chat rooms because he think it´s very helpful. I´m
kind of new to this whole chat group thing so if anyone has a
helpful tip I would really appreciate it. Thank you and have a nice

Yesterdays’ meeting was well attended and very informative. The group was
composed of pre and post op people. The pre-op patients were able to gain a lot
of information since they were taking notes.

The post ops all look amazing. It is wonderful to see less of everyone each
month. I never amazed by the joy everyone has when they speak about the weight
loss journey.

Lorraine always has many great stories about her post op experiences and they
are enjoyable and enlightening. The glow Lorraine has is contagious. All of us
have many different issues that we deal with. It is just not about weight loss.

HI all I’m new to this group and boy is there alot to read!!! LOL! I
am going to the Bariatric Treatment Center In Belvidere IL on Fri
(anyone else been there?) for my first consult. Any info anyone has I
would love to hear. I have Federated Mutual Ins PPO and any info on
them would be awesome also. I’m so excited to start this process and
then again scared! I hope I find lots of new friends here and I know

I can’t give a whole lot of breadth of perspective in my answer. I can
only tell you that at least one of the doctor’s affiliated with the
Staple Club meetings has a team of support people that are very much
supportive, and that his team is excellent and it is hard to imagine a
better approach both to pre-op and post-op support and guidance. I
cannot testify to how that translates into the Staple club environment.
They are very strong in encouraging their patients to participate and
attend the Staple Club meetings. This list is very supportive and
populated by people at all stages of the process, and you can get most
questions answered and addressed in this forum. I had my surgery with
Dr. Osvaldo Anez at Fair Oaks Inova Hospital. I had a two hour meeting
with nutritionist before surgery, a second brief meeting just before
surgery, and then a follow-up two hour meeting about a month after

Hi, I’m getting ready for an rny lapryscopy and am in the process of practicing
my diet that the Wish center gave me. Has anyone else gone through the Wish
center for their surgery? Specifically in Renton, WA. I just want to know how
it went for you.

Do you think I’ll be able to get an MRI in the future since I had my stomach
stapled in September, 2002? I haven’t seen my surgeon yet but thought maybe
someone here had been through a subsequent surgery.
