Update from a guy for Ray
Ray,
I had the surgery on August 22nd, so am about 4 weeks post-op. I can
say that the process was much easier than I had anticipated, or
imagined. The surgery itself was smooth. I had open rather than
laproscopic, because of the research I had done, and because the
surgeon I chose only does the Open. I am glad that I chose that,
however at one point I was going to have Laproscopic. I think they are
both well documented and safe. The critical factor that I see is the
team that the surgeon has assembled to support you both before and
after. The Lord blessed me by allowing me quite unintentionally to find
one of the best surgeons in the Metro DC area.
I had the surgery on Friday, and was home on Monday. When I decided to
have the surgery, I was at the top weight of 442. During the process of
approval and waiting, somehow without trying, I actually lost 30 lbs.
So my presurgery weight was 411. The last time I weighed about a week
ago, I was down to 382. I have adjusted well to the new way of eating.
The only difficulty I have had so far is being able to exercise as I
need to. I had pre-existing herniated disk, which gives me back and leg
pain. I am not concerned, because I know those will go away as I lose
weight, and I will be more able to walk on a consistent basis. Having
the surgery was one of the best decisions I have made. If you have any
specific questions, I would be happy to try and answer them, either
publicly or privately.
Danny
