Hi!! I just joinned the group and I recently had the gastric band
surgery. I had it done in Tijuana, Mexico because I had the same
problem with my insurance and it was cheaper there. I had it with
Dr. Verboonen, he´s great and I´ve lost almost 20 pounds in almost 7
weeks. They have a web page it´s www.obesitygoodbye.com and they
have a link to a financial institution that checks out your history
and they finance the surgery without risking your stability.
Actually I joinned this group because Dr. Verboonen and the
nutritionist recommended it, I hope to meet people that undestands
and share experiences with... Thank you and have a nice day!!!....

I know of quite a few places that take self-pay. The average is about $25,400.
What state are you in?

Jason

I have not found anything and I'm a self pay post op patience myself.
It was a very hard decision to make to go ahead with the surgery. However I
researched my doctor inside and out. Contacted prior patience of his, and
most of all prayed to God (or whomever you believe in) for his guidance.

I think the after surgery fears are much greater for me because of knowing
that if something goes wrong I can't pay for it. I put all my faith first
in the Lord to guide this wonderful doctor that I had and researched to no
end, and then faith in my family for post op recovery time and healing.
I'm doing great (again thank God).
<!--more-->

But I would still like to have some kind of assurance that if later down the
road something happens I wont break the bank because my insurance wont cover
it.
Not only is the surgery a huge concern, but then add no insurance on top of
that concern and it's a double whammy!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated on this subject.
Jodee- 3 months out - 43 lbs

Help - I am trying to get my insurance company to approve the surgery
and I am even willing to self pay for the surgery. However, I can
not risk our family finances for any complications or castostrophic
events related to the surgery. Has anyone ever heard of any kind of
insurance whereby the patient would pay for the surgery, but some
kind of supplement insurance or special insurance that would serve as
a special stop loss type insurance in the event that something very
costly were to occur during the surgery or shortly thereafter? This
would allow me to pay for the surgery but not risk destroying our
finances and our kids' college funds.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
