Support in Northern Va

Cathy,

I can’t give a whole lot of breadth of perspective in my answer. I can
only tell you that at least one of the doctor’s affiliated with the
Staple Club meetings has a team of support people that are very much
supportive, and that his team is excellent and it is hard to imagine a
better approach both to pre-op and post-op support and guidance. I
cannot testify to how that translates into the Staple club environment.
They are very strong in encouraging their patients to participate and
attend the Staple Club meetings. This list is very supportive and
populated by people at all stages of the process, and you can get most
questions answered and addressed in this forum. I had my surgery with
Dr. Osvaldo Anez at Fair Oaks Inova Hospital. I had a two hour meeting
with nutritionist before surgery, a second brief meeting just before
surgery, and then a follow-up two hour meeting about a month after

surgery. As well, the nutritionist is always available for questions
and support. I am sure there are teams of equal proficiency out there,
but none better. His office is located in the same hospital complex
(Fair Oaks Inova).

He does not do laproscopic, but I can honestly say that my whole process
so far could not have been any better. It was much easier than I ever
imagined. Dr. Anez currently does 8-10 surgeries a day, and has it down
pretty well to a science. Small incision, and 45 minutes of surgery.
They are actually building a wing of the hospital specifically for him
as a bariatric surgery center. It apparently is a very nice cash flow
for the hospital. Anyway, that is my two cents worth, and I hope you
find the kind of support you are looking for. If you have any specific
questions regarding anything don’t hesitate to ask.
