WLS and heart

Saturday, June 17th, 2006

Hi everyone,

I’m in the process of waiting to see a surgeon about
WLS. My question is, are there any others out there
that have heart problems and have had the surgery? I
had angioplasty 4 years ago and still have angina
attacks. I"m on several meds for this including nitro
and asprin(as a blood thinner).

I’d appreciate hearing from others on this.

Insurance Help

Friday, June 16th, 2006

Help - I am trying to get my insurance company to approve the surgery
and I am even willing to self pay for the surgery. However, I can
not risk our family finances for any complications or castostrophic
events related to the surgery. Has anyone ever heard of any kind of
insurance whereby the patient would pay for the surgery, but some
kind of supplement insurance or special insurance that would serve as
a special stop loss type insurance in the event that something very
costly were to occur during the surgery or shortly thereafter? This
would allow me to pay for the surgery but not risk destroying our
finances and our kids’ college funds.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

dystymic disorder

Friday, June 16th, 2006

Question for everyone out there. I was feeling some anxiety about
the kids and their behavior lately so I made and appt. with a
therapist to see if there was some medicine I could be prescribed or
anything and she had me do this questionaire. I answered it very
truthfully and today she told me that I have dysthymic disorder,
which is a form of depression that lasts for years. She showed me
the list of items and I had most of them on the list. My question is
do you think that the insurance company would deny my surgery if
this came to light?

Answers to your questons. I am eating three meals a day, 4
tablespoons. For the first two-three weeks Post-op virtually everything
was pureed, except for cottage cheese, and scrambled eggs with cheese
in morning. Sugar free applesauce with cottage cheese has been good for
lunch. They make different flavored apple sauce. For the last week or
so, I have gradually been eating regular food, and so far have had not
even one feeling like I was going to throw up. I actually went through
a buffet line at a wedding, and ate fairly normally, and was very
satisfied. I do not so far have any cravings. I have a passing thought
and desire to eventually be able to eat Chinese food again, but I would
not call it a craving For me, I tend to constipation, and so bowel
movements have been every few days. I need to increase the amount of
water I drink, and I don’t consider it a problem.

I think that the doctor was probably right about the healing being

Update from a guy for Ray

Tuesday, June 13th, 2006

Ray,

I had the surgery on August 22nd, so am about 4 weeks post-op. I can
say that the process was much easier than I had anticipated, or
imagined. The surgery itself was smooth. I had open rather than
laproscopic, because of the research I had done, and because the
surgeon I chose only does the Open. I am glad that I chose that,
however at one point I was going to have Laproscopic. I think they are
both well documented and safe. The critical factor that I see is the
team that the surgeon has assembled to support you both before and
after. The Lord blessed me by allowing me quite unintentionally to find
one of the best surgeons in the Metro DC area.

I had the surgery on Friday, and was home on Monday. When I decided to
have the surgery, I was at the top weight of 442. During the process of
