Has anyone had a problem with insurance denying a pre-authorization?
I have blue cross/blue shield hmo and they denied my claim because
there was not enough medically supervised diet info. So now I am
going back and getting letters from my primary Dr. and professionals
that have treated me, such as dieticians, chiropracter and
therapist. I’m hoping this will be sufficient. Anyone have any
experience getting a denial overturned?? According to my surgeon’s
office, this seems to be the practice for BC/BS to deny the claim and
then have to submit more information to have it appealed. According
to my surgeon’s office I had all the info needed, maybe they should
have helped me prepare for this a little better as well. Oh, and I
am a revision patient, had a gastroplasty in 1989..anyone else in the
same boat? Would love to hear how bypass if different.

I’ve been emailing talking about being at a plateau now for a couple of
weeks, but what do you do with yourself when you step on the scale and it’s
going UP?!
I am so depressed, sad, scared…. what have I done wrong? I have (with me
very aware of what is going in my mouth) put on 7 lbs in the last two weeks.
I’m exercising, strictly watching what kinds of foods I’m eating when I do
eat. Weighing my food (eating about 3 & 1/2 oz 3 times a day, drinking water
and I’ ve put on weight.
I have been on some pain medicine that has codeine in it. Not large amounts
but steady. That is the only thing I can think of that I’ve done
differently.
I just hit 3 months last Friday post op, and I want to die, cry and just
fall off the face of the earth.
I would like to find some friends out there to email back and forth
with questions and sucess stories!

Hi Everyone
I’m new to this site and I’d like to know what day and time does the
CHAT ROOM OPEN. Instead for boards of which are great I’d like to get
involved with live people too.
THANKS

You will probably get various answers on this one. Different surgeons
and programs will have some variation in post-op instructions,
restrictions and practice. My surgeon says no alcohol for a year. I’m
not sure what would change after a year, but I only drank wine
occasionally anyway. Of course, smaller amounts will affect you more
substantially and more quickly. It was also recommended to quit coffee,
and carbonated drinks. I had my operation almost three weeks ago, and
so far it has not been a struggle to give up those things. Pureed food
for 2 months, and so far the adjustment has been much easier than I
imagined.

I’m three months post-op and most of the time, I don’t get hungry
between meals but sometimes - I really do feel hungry. I’ve read that
others don’t have these hunger pangs…..am I the only one? Could it
be phantom hunger pangs (whatever those are)?
