Hello,

Am looking for some help. I had my surgery on 9/29/03, but due to a
leak and hospitalization I am technically now in my first week out of
surgery as far as eating. I was wondering if any one else has had
this problem. Everything has a bitter taste. I mean everything.
From water to toothpaste. Everything I remeber pre surgery taste now
has a distinct bitter taste, like Bile. Is this normal? Or just
something affecting me related to the leak?
I go back for a check-up tomorrow with my doctor and will ask him
about this, but was I was wondering if anyone else has had this type
of problem. I have tried brushing my tongue to clean it, everytime I
brush. But the bitter taste remains. I’ve also tried gargling, with
water and mouthwash, and it doesn’t remove the bitter taste. And
I’ve discovered that gargling, even just water, produces a distinct

Since I know some of you had diabetes as a comorbid i thought i would ask.
My husband was just recently diagnosed with bordline diabetes. He is taking two
meds by mouth. One twice a day and one once a day! I am trying to find out
(since i didnt go to the dr with him) how much sugar grams he is allowed a day
or what it is he should actually be watching on his diet!

hey everyone i am 3 weeks out this thursday and i went to the doc today and i
had gained 3 pounds.. help anyone have this happend to them .. i am still down
19 but up 3 from my last vist … anyone HELPPPPP ..
i am so upset i don’t know what to do..

I talked to BTC today and they FINALLY got everything from my Dr’s as
of today. I had to call a couple of them yesterday and put a fire in
place because they were dragging there feet! BTC said they would have
the letter of ness. and fax all of the ins company requirements by
Fri 11/7 and then it would take anywhere from 2-6 weeks for approval,
again waiting is NOT one of my strong points!!! I want to get on with
my life and feel better!!! I can’t wait to be on the loosing side!
anyway I will update soon (I hope with an approval) Good luck to
everyone who is on this journey I will keep you all in my prayers!!!

Does anyone receive this magazine? I went friday to my nutrionist to meet
before my surgery and she gave me an article she had copied from the magazine.
It
talked about walking and how important it is to walk that second mile! And
how even after you stop walking if you walked at least 2 miles your body
continues to burn like you were still walking for up to like 8 hours after. Has
anyone ever heard this or has anyone seen this article? Im not sure which issue
it
was out of sorry! Im interested in hearing feedback on this one.

I am needing to buy a robe for the hospital. Can anyone suggest a good CHEAP
place to find a 4X robe and what type is the best because I know I will be
walking with the IV pole in the hospital…THANKS

Also is anyone taking the Bariatric Advantage Supplements?? Please let me
know if you like them or not. THanks

Most of you guys know my story, and how I lost almost 300 lbs. I’ve
went from 550 down to 219 lbs. I had the Roux-NY Gastric Bypass
Weight Loss Surgery too.

Well, my parents have noticed how I’ve gained weight, and how much
more I’m eating these days. They expect so much from me as far as
weight loss. They can’t believe how much I can eat.

They only seem to pay attention at the negative more than the
positive. Yes, I do admit, I’ve messed up here and there these days
and cheated on certain foods I’m not supposed to have. It’s just so
d@mn hard for me. Unfortunately, they can’t seem to realize that.
And they put me through so much hell, and nag nag nag about how much
I’ve done bad and gained weight.

Hi, My name is Crystal. I am the 27 yr old mother of 1. I have been happily
married for 4 1/2 yrs. After the birth of my daughter in 2001 I was diagnosed
with a kidney disease. I also have Hypothyroidism. I am currently at my
heaviest of 365 pds. I am 5′9. I am scheduled for Lap RNY on 11/17/03 with Dr
Drake
Bellanger in Baton Rouge, La at Vista Medical Center.
I have BC/BS of AL PPO Insurance.

I was wondering if anyone has used this dr or hospital or has this insurance.
Also any advice for a PreOpper!!

Hi,
First let me introduce myself, I am Sandy age 49. I am 4ft. 11in.
and weigh 278 lbs.
I have asthma, sleep apnea, reflux,incontinence,and knee degeneration
problems I now walk with a cane. I can no longer do many every day
things most take for granted. As the quality of my everyday existence
has deteriorated I asked my HMO if the WLS was a possibility for me.
My physician asked me to call my insurance company to get
authorization for a screening to see if I qualified for WLS. My
insurance company "Optimum Choice" say I have no coverage for this
type of treatment or surgery.
I went back to my Doctor who says he will give me a referral for a
WLS screening. But..I must call Optimum Choice and find out which
Doctors are in the plan. Now I really like my Doctor but I am
confused. From day one on this plan my doctor said "this" is who you
