Intro

Hi, My name is Crystal. I am the 27 yr old mother of 1. I have been happily
married for 4 1/2 yrs. After the birth of my daughter in 2001 I was diagnosed
with a kidney disease. I also have Hypothyroidism. I am currently at my
heaviest of 365 pds. I am 5′9. I am scheduled for Lap RNY on 11/17/03 with Dr
Drake
Bellanger in Baton Rouge, La at Vista Medical Center.
I have BC/BS of AL PPO Insurance.

I was wondering if anyone has used this dr or hospital or has this insurance.
Also any advice for a PreOpper!!
Thanks
Crystal

    Hi, Crystal, and welcome!
I guess everyone was off the list this weekend <G>. I’m over in Florida,
Niceville, so I haven’t used either the doc or the Med Center - Maybe
someone on the list has. Meanwhile, I can make some suggestions…
be sure to take some chapstick - your lips will get dry!
Have something comfortable to wear home, something that doesn’t bind.
Have a pillow in the car for the ride home - you’ll particularly want
something to hold against your tum if you sneeze or cough.
With a lap, you probably won’t need a set of tongs for personal hygiene
after your surgery. (Helps to reach those areas)
Be sure to get up and walk as soon as you can. This will help dispel the gas
they put in your in order to see the operating area.
Be sure to blow in your "blower" (I don’t know the name anymore <G>) to help
    prevent pneumonia.
You’ll be tired, expect that. My surgery was not really painful, just

discomfort. I got better quickly after about day 2.

I’m sure there are others on the list that will be able to make other
    suggestions.
