I have permission from the original poster to post this information, which I
think is probably good news for LOTS of us. <G>

First, recent IRS rulings have expanded the use of your medical FSA
dollars.
Starting January 1, 2004, you can be rimbursed for certain over-the-counter
(OTC) medications, such as antacids, pain relievers, cold remedies and
allergy
medications, through your medical FSA. All claims must include a detailed
receipt showing the purchase date and name of the item, medicine or drug.
In addition, for the general public, vitamins and supplements that are not
being used to treat an actual illness or medical condition aren’t
deductible.
I spoke to my FSA provider and gastric bypass is a medical condition that
could be claimed as long as you get a letter from your Dr. (surgeon or PCP)
that states the condition you are being treated for and what you are
supposed
to take. This has the potential to be a tax savings through FSA accounts
for
many of us, or a write-off for others.
I just wanted to share the news on this, as it is a big change.
