Obesity surgery

I just found out from my insurance today that I have been approved for
surgery. I am so excited and yes a little nervous, but you know I am
ready. I have always believed that angels have been with me and I
know they will help me get to the other side of my new life as well.
As sson as I have a date I will let you know. One question I have is
do they adjust any medication prior to the surgery or only after it is
done? I m sure I will now have many more ?s as the time gets closer
but will try to not ask too many. Thanks for the help Luanne

Meeting

The second on line support meeting will be held on Tuesday, November
25, 2003 at 9:30 pm. Future on line meetings are to be he held on
the last week of every month unless notified.. Live meeting are held
the second Wednesday of each month in Starbucks in Bayside. Notices

We are fortunate that the group is composed of several veterans of
wls as well as many caring individuals. The experience of the group
varies from people researching surgery to a member that has had the
surgery 19 years ago. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss in
an orderly fashion the questions that post-ops and pre-ops have.

Well My surgery was scheduled for 7am Tuesday 11/18. I had to be at the
hospitl for 5am. My hubby and I sat in the lobby till 5:45am. They then brought
me
to my room and had me put my gown on. Then they weighed me. Then I had to get
on the bed and they took me to the holding area. there they hooked up my iv
and gave me some blood thinners! I remember talking to my hubby and mom and the
guy came in and said Im gonna give you some stuff to relax you. Because at
this point I could not lie still..My nerves were getting the best of me. Well
that was the last thing I remember except for a warm blanket being put over me
in
the OR. My mom and hubby said I talked to them for about 10 minutes after the
shot but I dont remember a thing. The next thing i remember after the shot
was them saying "Wake up Mrs Hernandez you did great"..LOL Then I was rolled to
recovery. They kept trying to wake me up! FINALLY I made it to the ICU and
woke enough to ask for my family! They let them in immediatly. The nurse told my

OK. first of all do I count the day of surgery as a postop day? Surgery was
Tuesday morning so am I 4 days post of or 3?? LOL

second. How much should I be able to eat or drink right now? I have what
feels like a hungry feeling but could it just be where everything is not quite
right yet??? I am supposed to do liquid diets for 9 days starting today….I
drank some protein drink and ate a little jello about an hour ago for
breakfast…I now have that feeling Hungry??

last for now. the only pain i have is where the jp drain is..Will that go
away once its removed??? I cant even stand completely straight up on that size
and i have to hold that area when I walk…

Oh one more thing..The back of my legs are sore..is this normal?? maybe from
walking with just socks on in the hospital??

i went to my first seminar last night. very interesting….a lot
information. almost to much. alot to understand. drs and staff from
the hospital were there. told good and bad . i felt a lot of ups and
downs when i left. it made me very emotional for some reason. did
anyone else have that feeling.????

I am having Gastric Bypass in January and wonder if anyone know anything about
Dr Chebli in Northern VA. I am currently scheduled to go to Wash DC to a Dr
Brody, but I understand that Dr Chebli at Reston Hospital does the procedure
laproscopic so I am thinking about changing doctors. Any advice?? Thanks, Cathy
