my big day is monday nov 17 2003

hello all, I am so glad you are all here to talk to. My surgery date
is this coming monday, nov 17th at 12:30 p.m. I have waited a
long time for this. I had a surgery date about a month ago, and I
had an ulcer, so they couldn’t do it. It is really frustrating when it
gets delayed like that. I am a little nervous. I weigh 270 lbs. I feel
so old. I want my life back.i know it will be hard for a while. I have
had gallbladder surgery back in the 80’s and it was hard on me,
and I figure this will be too. i know it will just take time. I am
worried about eating slow enough. I am so used to drinking
down big glasses of milk (my favorite) I am going to try hard to
make this work. I can keep you all posted on my progress if you
would like. I am going to put a picture on my profile I know i like
to look at before and after photos. To all, I wish you much joy,
happiness, and quick recoveries. ms1guitar ( Betty)

I feel very fortunate because I LOVE milk and can still drink it with no
problems at all! I drink 1%. I did try 2% and I didn’t dump but felt really
ICKY for a half hour or so. No more of that for me. Jan

Hello Jan, Thank you for the info in the milk. I have
so many different versions of what I should eat and
can’t eat, that i feel that I am still going to be in
the diet, starvation mode again. my dr says i can have
whatever I can tolerate. The support group says, diet
food. What do you think? is it ok to have a bite of a
hamburger? or a french fry? as long as I don’t go
    crazy? bye, thank you, Betty

Betty- I know everyone is different…so you just have to see what works for
you. Yes…I eat hamburgers, tacos, a few french fries, spaghetti,… I can
eat about anything except for something that contains more than 2 grams of
sugar. I have not tried sugar and have no intentions of doing so. I know my
Dr. says try not to have too much fat. But I eat alot of the same foods I did
before surgery except for sugar. The thing is…I eatALOT smaller amounts than
before. I am craving a diet Pepsi… but I have been good. I need to wait 2
more months. I must be doing ok though because I have lost 72 pounds in 4
months. I am very happy with that. Jan
