What kinds of questions do you have? I think most of us who have
had this procedure would definitely do it again
(me? - in a heartbeat!)

I have lost no more hair than I usually do since my surgery. There
are a number of reasons suggested for hair loss, anesthesia, trauma,
lack of certain vitamins and minerals or protein, issues with
hormones. Since I couldn’t control the anesthesia or trauma or
hormone fluctuations, I did what I could - I took on extra protein
(like I’m doing now prior to my plastics) plus I upped my vitamins
to include biotin (a good hair/skin/nails vite would do the same).
Usually, if it’s going to happen, it will start around 3- 4 months
out and go to 7 months out, when you’ll see regrowth. I went back
to work in 10 days from my lap surgery. Could have gone back
earlier, but it was Thanksgiving, and so I took that time off.
Exercise will help rebuild the muscle, but if your skin has lost
it’s elasticity (like mine), no amount of exercise will bring that
elasticity back. After you lose your weight, the underlying fat
layer seems to "rebalance" itself, and your body will continue to
change shape for a while and the skin will change texture for a
while.
Anyone else have any other experiences?

Hi SCLADY,
I was told that that losing hair comes 3 to 5 months after surgery. I am
experiencing it now. You don’t go bald!! So, don’t worry. You only lose a
little when combing your hair, washing and rinsing. I have had waist long hair
and had my hairdresser cut it to shoulder length which has given me a whole new
look.
My surgery was 7/15/2003 and am back to work part time right now until the
new year. I went back 6 weeks after surgery. I am blessed with my job because
of their support and they are working with me. I am an account’s receivable
clerk.
My arms are sagging in fact they wiggle a lot!! I just started exercising a
few days ago. I will definitely have to have a tummy tuck and some other
plastic surgery but maybe minimal since I am just now starting my regimen.
If you have any other questions-Ask away.

I’m just about six months post-surgery. My hair started falling out
about five weeks ago and seems to be stopping now. It was most
obvious when I was brushing it out after showering. I have long hair
so it was more obvious but I never had bald spots or anything - just
lots of hair on the brush and in the drain. Again - it seems to be
tapering off now. It just serves as an incentive to get that protein
in! Good luck!
