Does ins companies ever pay for the tummy tucks, boob jobs etc caused from
WLS??

Regarding being depressed: I was terribly depressed and extremely uncomfortable
after my surgery too. And, like you, it had nothing to do with food, I was just
SO UNCOMFORTABLE and wondered if I would ever feel good again. All I can say is
that is normal and your boyfriend is right, soon you will look back on this time
and be in a much better place. But, it won’t take 50 years…just wait, the
first time you notice your clothes getting bigger or somebody notices you
shrinking, it will hit you all of a sudden and you will finally see that all the
depression and being uncomfortable is well worth it. Hang in there and try to
get all your protein in and keep moving to avoid blood clots, etc.

I hope your depression declines and just goes. It will be O.K. it will PASS.
You’ll be home before you know it and you’ll be comfortable.

Tell me Bahia where did you have your procedure done?
Was it at: ALVARADO Hospital?
If so let me know who your surgeon was ?

I due for my surgery on: DEC.4,’03 at: ALVARADO in San Diego.

Hi Everyone,

Well I am in San Diego still, just had surgery on November 7. All went well but
I have to say I am depressed. I knew it would be coming and that my emotions
would be all over the place. The funny part is it has nothing to do with my
decision or about eating….its all about how unconfortable I am. This will be
my second night in the hotel and I will be lucky if I get 6 hours of sleep
again. I get up every few hours to move around because the way I am sleeping is
comfortable for my stomach but not for any other part of my body. My back is
killing me. I wish I could take a muscle relaxer or something…i thought they
insicion would hurt and my insides….but right now I am fustrated because my
back hurts worse then my stomach. I guess all in all I can’t wait to get home
because I have a recliner there that I am hoping will solve most of my problems.

I am having a tuff time getting in all my water and protein but right now thats

I should have known things were going too smoothly. From the time of my
consult with the surgeon to the time of surgery will have only been not quite 2
months. Took 4 days for ins approval. Had all my testing done including 2 sleep
studies and went on 10/31 for all my preop testing. They called me today and
told me my surgery has been rescheduled..Im like OH NO!!! But thank goodness it
was only 1 day. So instead of 11/17 I will be having surgery 11/18. But now
all my family have to see if they can switch days at work in order to be off..My
mom, dad, husband and sister planned to be there! I know it could have been
worse..and i am thankful…Just had to vent a little. I have had a horrible
day…LOL

Pam, yes I did have a lot of protein. maybe thats why i put the pounds
back on. But i am now on the tract again. Waiting for the OK from the
insurance co. I know they have 30 days legally to make a decision,
but is there some way to make that quiker. I am trying to wait
patiently but as I’m dure most of you know, its not easy. Luanne

How long after surgery do you have your first bowel movement??

Hi guys. As of daylight tomorrow I am down to 7 days and counting! I have
decided to go stay with my mom for a couple of days and I am trying to make a
list of things I will need while there. I am only staying for 2-3 nights! I am
having surgery on Monday and staying with her till sat. morning. Other than my
suppliments, protein drinks and broth what else "eat or drink wise" do I need
to bring to her? I dont want to have to haul it there just to haul it home..LOL
Also I have read and researched RNY for 10 months but i have a MAJOR and
SERIOUS case of CRS and sometimes I tend to ask things more than once so that I
can make sure I am prepared..LOL The first week home while on the liquid diet
what did you actually eat and drink and how much??

My name is Donna. I had gastroplasty surgery in April 2003. Due to
problems resulting from the surgery I am having a revision to the
surgery to turn it into a gastric bypass. I am curious about this.
Has anyone else had this happen? I would like information if you
have. Thank you.
