i got another call this week. insurance wanted more info.they are going to let
me know in about a week. this is tuff all the ups and downs. thanks for the
support.

I too can truly understand your frustration. After waiting nearly two years,
fighting insurance, doctors, family and everything else I was scheduled for
the surgery next week. Then in mid December my insurance company sent out a
notice that as of 1/1/04 they would no longer be covering the surgery, even
if it was previously approved.

Don’t give up yet, there are always other options and other avenues.
Continue to press your insurance company, continue to work with your
doctors, and continue to be positive. Eventually they will all have to come
around, they can’t afford not to.

guess i need to get a copy. it just hit hard after hearing that

today. when i called before i was told it was covered. so who knows.
i live in columbia sc. i have already had my dr, visit and other
meetings. so i will wait and see.thanks again.

Hello’
I so sympathize with you and the insurance problem….mine states: Exclusion -
Surgical or Non surgical procedure for weightloss. So I can have it if it
isn’t for weight loss….I finally got an appointment to actually see a doctor.
Every office I called wanted me to wait until I went to a seminar. I just want
to see if I have a chance before I go to a bunch of seminars and get my hopes
up.

Anyhow, sorry for babbling.

The surgery may not be covered for obesity, but it may be covered for medical
necessity. Exactly what does your policy say?

That said, mine wasn’t covered, either, so I can understand your frustration.

Where are you going for WLS?

hi again,
i called my insurance company to see if my packet has come from the
drs yet. well….it has not but what i was told was bad news. i was
told my insurance does not cover this operation. i was told before
that it was. i never would have even started the process if it was
not covered. what a blow this has been this week. this is an
emotional thing anyway but now to be told after all this time i am
not covered. i feel very drained. dont know what the next step is. i
was told by insurance today that they would send it for review. i
should know something in 5to 7days. this has been a hard week. but im
still not smoking haha. it was hard today to not go by any. just
rmemeber me in your thoughts.
