		<description>Pam,
Thank you for the information. I will research my last blood test and see what
changes have occurred since my surgery. I will also check with vitalady for
some supplements.
Melva

Chromagen Forte is a good supplement, from what I've been told. I
don't know of an iron chewable. The iron we get in Flintstones is
not really available to us because there's also calcium (I believe)
in the pills, and one of them cancels the other out (i.e., they both
use the same receptors on the cells, so only one of them gets
&#34;utilized.&#34; I have to tell you I'm not an expert, but I am
actively involved on a number of lists where people discuss these
issues, and simply bring to this list what I've seen on the other
lists. Iron is always taken separate from calcium about 1-2 hours
&lt;!--more--&gt;
apart.

Pam,
My ferratin level is 84 with reference range of 10-291 so what would
be normal for this around 180 or so? What supplements can I take to
bring my iron and ferratin up? Is Chromagen Forte a good
supplement? What about chewables? I'm not taking pills yet?
I just take Flintstones with iron so far.

I was just wondering after having a baseline blood-workup done 6
weeks after surgery at my PCP's office. Is it normal to have a low
iron reading due to the surgery? The reference range is between
60-160 and my reading was 45. My calcium, B-12 are normal. But my
Globulin is high at 4.1 (reference range is 1.9 - 3.8) What does
Globulin do? I'm just curious as I don't have an appointment with
my doctor till the first of February and I need to know if I should
be concerned about the iron before then.
Thanks
Melva

<description>Your ferritin levels are fine, as far as I know. Do you have your
last series of blood tests so you can follow trends? i.e., did you
start at 200 and now you're at 84? One good place to go to get
blood tests explained is:

<description>Melva, iron is one of those things we no longer &#34;digest&#34; from food
because it is extracted in the duodenum which is bypassed (this is
assuming you had a bypass surgery, not just a restrictive surgery
like the lap band). You lose iron if you lose blood, (or donate -
so don't donate anymore) or if you are still having periods. You
can start taking some forms of iron to help compensate. You don't
want your numbers to get too bad because it's so hard to get it back
up, and because if you decide to have plastics, your surgeon will
want you to have good numbers before you have surgery. Also, keep
track of your ferritin. Your ferritin levels indicate the status of
your iron storage. You can have normal iron iron levels because
your body is pulling from the ferritin to keep it there. I had
blood work pre-op, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year and will start every 6
months for another year before I go to yearly.
