advice

ok…I have been walking most of my 7 weeks post but I am bored with it so
for the last 4 or 5 days I have been riding the exercise bike. I was walking 2-3
miles a day and I am now riding the bike 4-5 miles a day. I want to soon be
doing both but I am not able to do that yet. My question is until then which is
better to do..Just walking or the bike? I was thinking the bike would work
some of my problem areas better..Like my wings (flabby underarm), lower stomach,
legs and butt…

Stomach bypass surgeons need long experience

As hospitals increasingly offer gastric bypass surgery, studies show
grave risks when surgeons lack adequate training in the procedure.
BY LIZ KOWALCZYK

With thousands of obese Americans opting for gastric bypass surgery,
a growing collection of research suggests that this increasingly
popular operation can have a hidden risk: inexperienced surgeons.

Dealing with Relatives

Friday, October 13th, 2006

Hey Group,
I am in the very early stages of getting approved for RNY and I am having
difficulty with relatives understanding what I’m aiming for. I am hearing
comments like: "Why don’t you just go on a liquid diet right now and save
yourself the trouble of surgery because that is all you will be able to eat
after surgery" and " Just done eat as much and toughen up," or "Will Power is
all you really need." Of course these relatives, not my wife (she is very
supportive and encouraging), are all trim and have never had to worry or stuggle
with weight issues. I know they are totally ignorant to the whole process.
I’ve done my research and I know RNY is right for me, I just tired of dealing
with stupid, selfish people.
Thanks,
Bryan

I’m back!

Tuesday, October 10th, 2006

Hi, guys!
I’m back home and not working on all cylinders yet, but have just
reopened my mail to individual emails. I just approved some newbie
postings - so if yours was delayed a bit, I do apologize. We’ll get
back in the rhythm pretty quick.

Costa Rica was lovely, the plastic surgeons were just wonderful. I
can’t say enough good about the recovery ranch I was at - Chetica, but
I can say that the weather was out of whack. The rainey season was
supposed to be over mid-end November, and it was still going strong,
along with the windy season - so it was like being in hurricane winds
with intermittant rains. Gorgeous if you weren’t already cold from
surgery and the weight loss over the last few years.

Take care and I’ll be around!

I finally have a date!!

Tuesday, October 10th, 2006

I will be having the VBG on January 15. I am very nervous about
this procedure and would like to exchange emails with others that
have had the vbg as well. Good, bad or ugly, I would like to know
every possible thing that can happen to me.

part of what we drink in Crystal Lite or Sugar Free Kool Aid count toward water
since its mixed with only water??? Can you tell I am desperate???? LOL I just
need something different but in order to get the 64 ounces I have to drink
nothing BUT water and i CONSTANTLY have a glass or bottle of water with me….
THANKS

Update on me-7 weeks out!

Friday, October 6th, 2006

Hi Everyone,

Well as of Friday I am 7 weeks out and doing pretty weel. I finally had a full
week with no aches or pains and felt great. So I feel ready to really get into
my exercising. For the past few weeks I have put it off because something was
causing a pain in my side. I thought it might of been a hernia because it was
consistant for about a week. So I took it easy and luckly it went away. Just
must of been my nerves reconnecting.

I am doing pretty well with most foods. I tried aspargus a few days ago and it
didn’t stay down. Then I tried catfish, small bit just to taste and it didn’t
stay down. The first two foods that I have had real trouble with. I am doing
pretty well with my protein. Fish and chicken seem to be my staple diet lately.
Lots of salmon and shrimp. Im so glad they stay down. And I perodically do a
protein shake but they are hard for me. Im trying different stuff in order to

Thursday, October 5th, 2006

I am curious, does anyone in the Pacific Northwest have the
NutritionWorks `binder’… would you recommend it? I did not purchase
it because I didn’t know if it was REALLY a good resource.

Thanks – Shay
