Question??and response to all the rebels out there. :)

HI Everyone,

I am out almost 3 months from my surgery and I think this is the first time I
have needed help. All this talk about what we should and shouldn’t be eating
has got me thinking about what I eat and how long it takes me sometimes. I have
to admit, I haven’t been really concentrating on lowfat or nonfat foods. I
think mostly because during this period, I m just trying see what works for me
and what doesn’t. I am talking about cheese, peanut butter, although i do eat
lowfat cottage cheese. One of the things I have noticed though is that I
automatically eat lowfat anyways. When I get a salad when I got out, I get
ranch but I don’t pour it on my salad. I dip my fork and taste it with each
bit. Good trick to know because I end up eating only a 1/4 of what I normally
would. If that. Also, I don’t get pasta with cream sauces because they don’t
work well with me. Matter of fact, I don’t get pasta at all. I like some people
have had problems with chicken so I have moved to pork and

beef a little early. I don’t eat a lot of either. I love fish but so far I
have only tried Salmon. When I tried white fish, it didn’t stay down so I will
have to try that again. I am finally getting use to vegetables, they were hard
on me at first. Okay enough of that blab…my question is, sometimes I find
myself taking over an hour to eat something or drink my protein shake. Today I
had a small apple with a tablespoon of peanut butter. Because I am eating it at
work, it took over an hour to eat it. Would that be considered snacking or is
it okay that I take that long. Sometimes when I do that, I can get in the
entire apple, although small or all 8oz of my protein drink. I just want to
make sure im not screwing something up by doing that.

Sorry to make this so long but I just wanted to comment that I agree with most
of the posts regarding food opinions and suggestions. Everyone is different and
we all react to this surgery different. I know that some people out there don’t
have the will power to not binge when they used to or to eat to comfort them. I
thought before this surgery that I did that. Lucky me I found that I ate
because I like food and still do…only now I look at it differently. Now i eat
when Im hungry and not when I think I should. I was raised to clean my plate
and eat 3 big meals a day. But I hope these new habits I am developing will stay
with me. I know they will…i feel to good already to go back to the way things
were. Sorry again for all the blabber. Thanks for listening.
