3 month checkup…A little vent

Ok. First of all for all the post ops…do you actually see your surgeon at
your checkups?
I had a checkup at 1 week, 1 month and 3 months. I have not seen my surgeon
none of these 3 times. All they do is weigh me, take me to a room and his
little teeny bopper I guess Assistant comes in. Ask how I am doing. Any
questions….Well every time I ask her a question she gets this deer in the head
light
look and doesnt really answer my question thoroughly. Today my question was
about light headedness. I have it EVERY day but some days worse than others. So
I
asked if this was normal with post ops…Her response was..Well I know I do
that every once in a while when my blood sugar goes low so you need to just have
something handy to you can take a bite of. well….The discussion before that
was that I am living on protein drinks. I can hardly eat any "real" food at
all without getting the tooooo full feeling or throwing up…so how is having a

bite of something gonna fix my light headedness. Also, I asked about post op
blood work..they dont do it till 6 months so I asked what i needed to have run
because I would go to my PCP and have it done now so i can stay on top of it
…she never answered that one….just bypassed it all together…At this
point i ws FUMING because here I am asking her stuff and she is dodging them
like
bullets. I do have to admit my nerves were already a little unsettled because
i had to take 2 three year olds to the visit with me so i knew if i told her
something i would lose it so i just said thats all. Thank you and walked out…
UUUGHHHHHHH what do i do? am i wrong? if so please tell me!
Thanks
Crystal

Maybe she thinks the lightheadedness is coming from hypoglycemia
(some of us do get that post-op) and her response was based on that
assumption. Most of people who are a bit further out usually do a
protein/carb combo here - like a cheese cracker, or a half a piece
of bread with a bit of peanut butter and even a dab of fruit jelly
when they get lightheaded. I’m assuming you’re not dehydrated.
This may be something you have to get your PCP to explore further.
TBH, I haven’t seen my surgeon since my surgery. Of course, he’s in
Atlanta, and I’m in Florida. His nurse calls around lab time and I
    fax her my labs.
