1 year update
As I think about the past year it has been incredible. I wouldn’t change my
mind or do I ever regret having my surgery. The only thing I find real
discouraging is the fact that I seem stuck in a platau — But I find it even
hard to complain too much about that as I have lost 146 pounds in this one
year time frame — And in life prior to surgery I’ve never lost that much in
a 1 year time frame. It may seem like I put it on that quick ha — just
some humor.
It is just amazing the things that are "more normal" But the other day I
was shopping in the regular section at a clothing store and I keep waiting
for someone a clerk or another person to say — this section is for smaller
people you need to go to the plus section — Geeze just guess I need to
change those tapes. But it will come.
The other positives are making multiple trips to go get something that is
forgotten and just seeing it as ok. I make far more trips up a down
hallways at work — and never think of it as odd — before I used to grab
everything so I would only have to make one trip.
Being able to choose the parking spot at the far end of the lot by choice
not cause its the only spot left and enjoying the walk. Being able to go up
North this past fall and enjoy hiking and want to do more. Having recently
been at Toronto — walking from our conference site to our Hotel when we
either chose to not take the bus or wanted to stay later than the bus was
offering transportation. Sitting in theatre seats, bus seats, and being
comfortable — not feeling like you need two chairs. The prospect of
taking a plane ride and not having to pay for 2 tickets d/t the fact that
your so large. The prospect of going to the amusement park and not worrying
about the lap bars on the rides that they would not fit and you have to walk
off humiliated and wait for your family on the other side.
Now when people look at you and say is it really you I wouldn’t have
recognized you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh I’ve been long enough — Thanks all for you support this past year and
continued support.

Congratulations, Connie!!! Plateaus suck, but if you just keep
doing what you’re doing (and have no mechanical failure), you’ll be
back on the way down before too much longer. Good health to you!
