Nesting?

Friday, December 22nd, 2006

I have heard that hormones are stored in our fat cells and that as we
lose weight the fat and hormones are purged from the cells, and the
flood of hormones can cause us to become emotional PostOp since we
usually lose weight so quickly. I have gotten overly sentimental,
weeping at Hallmark commercials, etc. I want to know if anyone has
experienced ‘nesting’ similar to what women frequently experience while
pregnant. I can’t stop Spring Cleaning! I have cleaned every room in
the house, all closets, toy boxes cupboards and dressers, I even
attacked the garage and my husband’s tool box yesterday. I swept the
garaged, washed the floor and vacuumed under the hot water heater! I’m
not complaining (and my husband certainly isn’t), but this is so unusual
for me I just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced it.

I look forward to hearing from anyone with similar occurrences.

HELP! Massive Hair Loss

Thursday, December 21st, 2006

Hi Everyone,

I know that we have touch on this subject many times but I have not come across
anyone whos dealing with the kind of hair loss I am. It is coming out in
clumps. I have up my protein, taking a protein shake a day instead of every
other day. I have really been trying to get my protein in my food. I guess I
am just wondering if there is anything else I can do. Has anyone tried any
products to assist with regrowing their hair? Does any of them work. I am 27
years old and have never delt with this before. My hair is thin but if it keeps
going the way it is, I will be blad in areas soon. Im really scared. Any help
or advice would be most appreciative. Thank you for your time everyone.

Chew chew chew

Monday, December 18th, 2006

Hello All,

What is the biggest reason behind chew chew chew? Is it so food doesn’t
get stuck in the opening to the pouch or is it to assist in the
digestive process since our food isn’t broken down in all that stomach
acid anymore?

Sorry I am so full of questions today.

Thanks - Shay

Do protein drinks count as a meal?

Monday, December 18th, 2006

Hello All,

I know we are supposed to follow our surgeon’s recommendations but I am
cloudy on the 6 meals a day and 60 grams of protein. Do the protein
drinks count as a meal? I have been eating 3 – 4 meals, taking all my
vitamins and drinking 2 protein drinks each day… Do I get to eat MORE??
I feel great and losing about ½ pound per day, am never hungry - I am 2
½ months PostOp – things are going so well I have just been taken off my
Blood Pressure medication!!!

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks - Shay

Few Questions!

Sunday, December 17th, 2006

1st. I am 4 months out..Anyone experience any "fluttering" in their stomachs?
Reminds me a lot of when I was pregnant with my daughter!!

2nd. i have this burning sensation in my lower stomach on the left side when
i move a certain way. Kind of like a pulled muscle but it doesnt hurt all the
time. Just when i stretch my leg out real far or last night when I threw up it
hurt really bad. Anyone experience this? I have a call in to the dr but I
have to wait for him to call me back. (Have to remember this is the surgeon I
have not seen since the day of my surgery)..Not even post op in the hospital!

Thanks In advance,
Crystal

Some thoughts

Saturday, December 16th, 2006

Bill, (Would you prefer Bill, Will, William, or what? ),

My name is Danny Groveman, and I had WLS in August of 03. My highest
weight that I knew of was 442, but it could have been more. Once one is
in the realm of the Super Obese, it doesn’t much matter whether you are
four, five or six hundred pounds. I had insurance and it turned out to
be universally regarded by most physicans as the worst insurance company
to deal with. Aetna USHealthcare HMO. There are many approaches and
methods and routes to getting the surgery covered. It is essential that
you have a Primary care physician who is in favor of surgery, and will
help you document the co-morbidities and the failed diets over the
years. Any of the insurance companies will require this to be in place,
as well as a whole cadre of tests that they require before approval is
obtained. The advice I can give to you is probably something you have
thought of yourself, but if my insurance company had turned me down, I

Garage Sale- Plus Sizes Sacramento Only

Saturday, December 16th, 2006

Hi Everyone,

I would not use this sight to solicit a garage sale but I am doing this sale for
a worthy cause and I would like anyone who could help to come. I am having a
garage sale this weekend and all the money will be donated to American Cancer
Foundation. I have two relatives currently dealing with cancer and I thought
this would be something I could do to help. I will have tons of plus size
clothes available. I usually bought from Lane Bryant and Mervyns so they are
high end or somewhat high end. The sizes range from 26 to 22 and I have a
leather jacket that would fit someone at a 26 or down to 22 ( its adjustable).
Anyways, if you are in the sacramento area and you would like to help. Please
call me at the number below and I will give you directions. I prefer not to
email my address. I will be having it both Sat & Sun from around 8 to 4.
Please come if you need clothes and can help. Thank you for your time

1 year update

Friday, December 15th, 2006

As I think about the past year it has been incredible. I wouldn’t change my
mind or do I ever regret having my surgery. The only thing I find real
discouraging is the fact that I seem stuck in a platau — But I find it even
hard to complain too much about that as I have lost 146 pounds in this one
year time frame — And in life prior to surgery I’ve never lost that much in
a 1 year time frame. It may seem like I put it on that quick ha — just
some humor.

It is just amazing the things that are "more normal" But the other day I
was shopping in the regular section at a clothing store and I keep waiting
for someone a clerk or another person to say — this section is for smaller
people you need to go to the plus section — Geeze just guess I need to
change those tapes. But it will come.

The other positives are making multiple trips to go get something that is
