Question??????????????????????
Hi,
I do alot of reading on the posts I am just not much if a participator. I do
have a question. I am 61 years of age with a heart condition which is in good
condition now. I had Open Heart in 2001. I am the one who complains of
shortness of breath once in a while. I just had another angio last week to
prepare me for back surgery which was a great success.
Now, my angio showed my arteries to be in still great shape. He says my heart
muscle seems a little weak but other than that everything looks good. I have no
heart damage and have never had a heart attack.
My question is do you I think with my heart history I am too old for the gastric
bypass surgeery?

Barb, I think you’ll have to talk to the surgeon. I know some that
will do GBS up into a person’s 70’s. They’ll have to look at your
medical history and make that decision. If your local surgeon isn’t
ok with working with you, you may find another. Can you self-pay
and go to another area of the country? That might be necessary, too.
Dunno.
Good luck!

Dear Barb –
I am 61 and will be having the lap band surgery on Monday. I had an angioplasty
a year and a half ago and feel that the lap band will help prolong and improve
my life. The docs will check you out but good and if they don’t go to someone
else.
I’m looking forward to a relief from my back pain and getting back some energy
lost to hauling around so much excess weight.
Wishing you all the best –
– Linda

Hi Barb –
I’m in Kentucky. My doctor is Dr. Derek Weiss at the Georgetown Baraitric
Center in Georgetown, Kentucky. He and his partner are very skilled and very
concerned about their patients. Several of the nursing staff have had weight
loss surgery and they are great to work with.
