Well ladies and gents, I saw the surgeon today and I am scheduled for the
WLS by mid-August. He said maybe sooner cause some of the people on the list
have not done all their requirements and I have so I may get in sooner. They
will call me in two weeks to let me know the exact date. I am so excited. Will
let you know the date as soon as I get it.

Hi Terry,
First I wanna wish you al the good luck you can get with your
recovery from your surgery.
But no, I dont worry about the fact that there are some kinds of food
en drinks that I dont like anymore, my surgery is now 7 years ago,
and I still have several thing witch I dont like, because they dont
taste good anymore or because my stummick dasnt tolerate that food
any more. But thats absolutly no ground for worry whit me. It’s a
learning proces, you will get jused to, believe me. For me its as
normal as getting up every morning. I have learnt juring al those
years and I still learn what I can and can not eat. Once in a while I
try something new, and if that is going well, then its allright, and
if my stummick dasnt tolerate it, then I now that for a next time,
you keep learning.
I wish you all the good luck with this jearny, and if you have
anymore questions about your or mine experience, just ask them, maybe
I can give you an awnser.
Greetings Karina.

Hi, Terry!
Goodness, I think you can relax, my friend. I doubt you can eat or
drink too much right now. At 2 weeks out, if I ate too much I
immediately tossed it back up, rather like a baby spitting up. Even
the amount of liquid I could take was limited to sips. If it helps,
you can measure your foods. I think in the beginning, I could only
eat at most ¼ of a cup of really well chewed food in about 30
minutes. Drinking sorta went right through me, but I was careful
not to drink and eat at the same time – cause when I did that, I
found I could eat a lot more. I drank up until I ate, and then I
ate and waited at least 30 minutes before I drank again. But I’m
willing to bet your pouch is still swollen a bit, so you won’t be
able to get in a lot. The really important thing (IMHO) is getting
in your water and your protein drinks, even if you have to make half
servings. You need your nutrition.
Your tastes will shift during this period. Something you hate today
you may love next week. Just give it a break and try again later.

Welcome and it sounds like you’re doing GREAT!

Terry,
She is right the attending gorgeous and I mean drop dead gorgeous resident on
call my first nite post op taught me to sip water like brandy from a snifter. He
even made me swirl the paper cup. I do not know where he is but if I did, i
would send him to you. If it helps pretend Tom Selleck or Bruce Willis is
sitting across from you and is mesmerized with your eyes and promise you will be
able to get something down. Go at your own speed and if nothing else listen to
Pam.
