Quantity of intake…
I have a question regarding the amount of food we should be able to eat before
being/feeling full. I’m curious about what others have heard from their
Doctors, etc. My doctor said that the most I should eat is a half cup of food
at a time, I’ve heard other doctors say less than that, and others say more.
What have you guys heard? Just curious.
Also, I find myself MORE hungry around my period…anybody else get that?
Thanks,

I do tend to be more hungry around my period. Don’t know why. My doctors
never told me how much I should eat at one time. I have heard about the 1/2
cup thing. I guess it depends on how big your stomach stretches. There is
a way to figure out how big your stomach pouch is. I think they call it the
cottage cheese test. Basically you eat cottage cheese until you are full
and measure how much you ate of the container. Then you know how big your
pouch is. I think the key thing is to make sure once you feel full you stop
eating.
Great job at reaching your goal. With exercise and your already great
effort I am sure you will be able to keep it off. I am sure that your
eating habits had to change once you had the surgery and that will stay with
you. At least for me it has. I no longer eat most of my meals on the run
in fast food joints, and eat tons of bread and starches. And exercise is
now a daily part of my life. Great Job so far and it is nice to meet you.

Up until I was about 16 months out, the most I could take was ½ a
cup of dense food at a time. (like meat) sometimes 1/3 a cup. I
could take 2 cups of well chewed salad. I still can only do ¾ of a
bagel (regular size, not the super size one) for breakfast unless I
deliberately wash it down with something, which just pushes it
through the pouch and defeats the purpose of the surgery. Earlier
on, I could eat ¼ cup – say up to 6 months, and then it started
getting more. I started with a 1oz pouch. Since I still have
restriction, and am not hungry all the time, I’m assuming the pouch
is intact.
