Woo hoo, Catherine. How exciting. You can put a notice on the
calendar on the list, so that we’ll send you extra good thoughts on
that day. If you don’t know how, let me know and I’ll do it for
you. Does your doc have you on any special prep? Will it be an
open or lap surgery? You actually are lucky. When I got my date, it
was 4 months in the future! Yours is pretty close.

Thanks so much Pam. I also rec’d a call this morning from Dr. Amalle’s office to
confirm insurance approval and surgery date of 9/22.
I was speaking to a friend last night and I was so serene about the process. I
said to God back in 08/03 (when I began this process), that if He didn’t want me
to undergo the bypass, to set up hurdles for me so I would know it was against
His will. I hope that makes sense. Anyways, there has been no hurdles on this
journey. Everything that I was asked to do, I did it with ease. All the
necessary appointments were made and it all fell into place.
Please put me on the calender.

Hello to all:
This is Catherine from Rochester, NY. I have rec’d insurance
approval for my surgery which is on 9/22.
I went to my final required session for pre admission screening. It
included blood work up, EKG, chest Xray and so much more.
I went to my local sleep disorders clinic to have a consultation.
They are trying to get a sleep apnea screen before my surgery date.
So I am on a calling list.
Has any one ever experience a little ambivilance(spelling) as the
surgery date nears? Is mixed feelings normal at this junction? I
know that the surgery is the best for me but I was wondering how
people were feeling the days before surgery.
Thanks.

I think mixed feeling is quite common. In fact my coworkers and church members
seemed alot more excited about me having the surgery than I did. I was real
nervous, afraid they might cancel the surgery if I gained any weight, would I be
able to do the prep for surgery, would the surgery work for me. And I had to do
that sleep disorder clinic too. Once they diagnosised I had sleep apnea they
kept trying to put me on a CPAP machine at night (in the hospital) and I was not
real supportive of that. I wish I had been able to get use to the machine and
take my own to the hospital before me surgery.
I wasn’t having alot of family support so I did not act to excited or happy
about having the surgery because they were saying how dumb I was to have it and
possible die. I kept saying the next time I fall asleep while driving I will be
dead, so what is the difference. Now it has been 7 months and I have lost 130
lbs and I am still losing. All I get now is compliments.
Congratulations on your upcoming surgery.

I think the question is who hasn’t felt it <G> . I got over it
thinking of all the plastic surgery I would have to have.
