Blood clot

I was readmitted to the hospital on Sunday after being released on
Friday from my gastric bypass surgery. I woke up Sunday morning with
blood all over my bed. It had come from the site where the drain tube
enters my body. I was in excruciating pain, mainly in my left
shoulder. My husband called the surgeon on call, and she said to come
to the hospital emergency room. I went to the hospital, and they did
a cat scan. It showed a hemotoma at the intersection of my new pouch
and my old stomach. The surgeon said it needed to be removed. I
thought "GREAT!!! another surgery." They removed the blood clot
laproscopically(SP?), just as they had done my bypass and removal of
my gallbladder. They were even able to use the same entrance areas. I
woke up still in alot of pain, and slept most of the evening.
Everything went well, and after staying in the hospital most of the
day Monday, I was released to come home. I feel much better. I am in
a lot less pain than I was before they removed the blood clot. I had

no idea a blood clot could cause so mch pain. Anyway, I am on the
mend again. I would love to hear from some of you. Maybe someone has
some good ideas on how I can get all of the protein I need. Take
care. Rhonda

Some people have a problem with the whey taste, but it’s more the
smell that gets them (I have no problem at all) - for those, you can
put it in a cup like the plastic gladware cup with a lid and drink
it through the hole opening (or a straw, if you don’t swallow more
    air).

My favorite protein drink is like a wendy’s frosty. I use 3 oz of
water, a scoop of proscore 100 choc, the same scoop of pure whey
stack choc, 1 TB of non-dairy creamer, 1 TB of splenda ,1.5 cups of
ice, and 1/8 tsp of cinnamon (can also add 1 tsp of instant coffee
powder for a mocha flavor). Blend until mixture is like a Wendys
Frosty. This makes almost a 2 cup drink, which I have to eat with a
    spoon. Very filling.

I am glad to hear they found the problem. And at least they were still able to
    do it laproscopic.

As for protein the drinks are the best. There are some low carbs ones out there
if you do not feel up to mixing powders right now. I also was putting some
scoops of the powdered protein in sugar free pudding. That worked real well.
You really want to make sure you do get your protein so it speeds the healing
and so you won’t have a lot of hair loss.

Keep in touch and I glad to hear you are in less pain now.

hair loss???? you lose hair??? why??

  4. Candy Justina Says:

Many people lose hair. Low protein, reaction to anesthesia, surgical
    trauma, low b vites.
Usually, if you’re going to lose it, you lose it. Starts falling out
around 3 months, starts coming back in around 7 months - give or
take a month. I had no hair loss with my GBS, but had it with my
    plastic surgery.
