JP Drain

OK< I know this is really gross, but I had my JP drain removed
yesterday. I am still really getting alot of drainage from this site.
I have to change clothes several times a day because it seeps through
my bandage. It is a lot of seepage. It is really gross. I hate it.
Any ideas? I have seriously considered buying thick kotex and
bandaging them to my site. I think I would rather still have the
bulb, so that it has some place to collect. Please let me know your
experience. So long for now, Rhonda

I had that too. I thought I would need to go back to the hospital because it
was leaking alot everywhere. I bought some absorbant 4 by 4 gause pads and
folded into half one to two and then put a full one over that and then paper
tape (allergic to regular tape). I had about 4 days of changing bandages alot
and then the seepage slowed down alot. I think that around the drain I must of
had a fluid collection. That is my only suggestion.

Do most doctors use these drains? I am still learning about the surgery and
trying to decide. There are 2 doctors in the group I’m going to but one uses
the drain and the other does not. The one that doesn’t is the doctor I’m
seeing. He has done almost 800 of these surgeries, so I guess he knows what
    he’s
    doing. Thanks for your help.
