Saw Doc today

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

and still can’t butterfly me back together until after
Christmas. No more infection so they finally took me off the antibiotics. I
was
throwing them up so badly… No one around here will mix the liquid percocet for
me so I got liquid tylenol. Just have to do.

Really don’t know if the surgeon knew of the lack of attention I was getting
or not. Don’t see him until 4 Jan. Have never had problems with military
hospital since I can remember. They were always a fine place to be. I just
don’t think the staff likes taking care of the bypass patients. Am still seeing
this civilian surgeon until I can get healed and taped back together. Feels
like my insides are falling out everytime I move. And I am quite comfortable
with Dr. Friedman. At least he came to my rescue when none other would. I
didn’t realize there was no bariatric centers around here. I heard all have to

Exercise Class

Saturday, March 24th, 2007

The World Gym of Mineola (244-48 Herricks Road, Mineola, NY) is
offering one free exercise class for post op patients. The class can
either be taken on Tuesday December 7, or December 9, 2004. The class
is for one hour and they will begin at 7:30pm. The instructor Gina
LoMonaco has extensive experience with the post op bariatric
patient. The World Gym of Mineola is the only Health Club in the
United States that has an on going exercise program for Post Op
bariatric patients. Exercise is a great tool to enhance your
weight loss and break a plateau. Come and meet other Weight Loss
Patients, and ask them directly how they like the class. If you are
interested you must confirm with me since class size is limited.

Recap of the Queens Meeting

Monday, March 19th, 2007

On November 8, 2004 we had our monthly meeting in Bayside. I thought
that it was somewhat amusing that former morbidly obese people meet
in Dunkin Donuts to have a surgical weight loss support group
meeting. For those that did not attend, we all had coffee and no
donuts. We pulled two large tables together and chatted for two
hours.

In attendance were two new people to our group. Iris from Woodbury
looks great. If she did not show me her before pictures I would have
never guessed that she was obese. Her skin looks great and I did not
see any visible sags. Iris is beginning to explore the prospects of
having plastic surgery outside of the United States since it is much
cheaper. If anyone has read any posts about this please share the
information with Iris. For me it was important to meet Iris since she
is a long term post op (3 years out) and see how she is doing. Many

Update on Me..Its been awhile

Monday, March 19th, 2007

HI Everyone,

There are so many new faces on these sites I am not sure if anyone will remember
me. I have been lurking for awhile, not having time to response to anyone. I
just enjoy hearing everyones questions and answers though. They have helped me
so much..so for that I thank you all.

Well a little about me, to introduce myself and remind those that I have spoken
to before. My name is Bahia and I live in Sacramento. I had surgery on November
7, 2003. I was 326lbs, the highest weight I have ever been in my 28 years of
life. It has been almost a year, one week away and my current weight is 192.
Total weight loss of 134lbs. I have never been so happy in my entire life.
This surgery was the best decision I have ever made. I am still losing, slowly
but surely. I am trying harder and harder to incorporate more exercising,
although it is still a battle for me. No matter what I hate

Breast Cancer Walk at Jones Beach

Sunday, March 18th, 2007

October 17, 2004

This was the first charity walk that I ever attended. If someone
would have told me two years ago that I would walk five miles and I
would have recommended a mental institution for that person. If that
same person would have suggested that I would pay to walk five miles
I would have driven them to a local mental institution for a nice
long vacation

The walk was attended by amazing friends of mine. Ira arrived at
Jones Beach at 7:00 AM. He wanted to make sure he would not be late.
As I approached the entrance I heard Ira’s friendly voice. Since Ira
has had his weight loss surgery he has a new outlook on life. If
there is an event or an exercise class for gastric bypass surgery you
can bet your last dollar that Ira will be the first person on line to

my dr.’s appointment

Saturday, March 17th, 2007

well, as i feared he might, the doctor said no, i am not a canidate for the
gastric bypass surgery.
this is due to me being midly bi-polor. i was angry, and disapointed, and not at
all happy today,
he did say that perhaps in a couple of months i might maybe be considered for
the lap-band surgery.
the might, maybe thing has me thinking he probably won’t want to do that one on
me either.
so now i can wait the couple of months or try to find a doctor who will do the
surgery on me, regardless of the bi-polor.
i haven’t decided what to do just yet.
as always,
julie
