Indy
Are any of you from the Indianapolis area? Would like some feedback
on good places to buy all the suggested foods and places to eat out.
Surgery coming in in just a few weeks.
Also, how do you really feel just before and just after surgery?

No Im from St Louis as far as how I felt before I tryued not to think about it
to much the one thing I knew was as soon as I could after surgery I had to get
up and walk, I had surgery at 8:30 on the 28 of last month and by 7 that night i
was up walking and again that night at 10. next morning was waiting for the
x-ray and they wwere backed up so I was walked down to my room from ICU, I had
to go there after surgery because of sleep apnia. Walk as soon as you can and
dont stop I would get up in trhe morning and walk down the hall, walking is what
I believe helped me get through any pain i might have had

You can eat out just about anywhere. Just choose your food wisely.
If I go out to a chinese buffet, I eat crab legs. Mexican, cheese
enchilada. Any fish. Of course this all depends on how far you are
out of surgery. Your first couple of weeks after surgery is usually
slimmy foods, then puree. Take care or you will not do good. Before
surgery I was very scared. But, I choose my surgion well and have
faith in God. After, I felt like I had been hit with a train, for
the first day. I had open surgery and used very little of my
morphine. When I was released, I didnt get the pain meds filled.
Two weeks after surgery my strength was back and I was felling better
than I had in years. I was very fortunate, some take longer to heal,
and some have complications. Make sure your surgion knows what they
are doing. Some are doing this surgery as fast as they can line
people up. Ask the surgion about HIS mortality rate and
complications from pulminary embolizm. Dont be afraid to ask the
important questions. If they seem high, they might be for a reason.
Talk with former patients and check out the hospital. Some are not
obese friendly. There is fear involved, but as long as you do your
homework and follow their instruction, you will be ok.
