Catherine, a metallic taste MIGHT be a sign of an ulcer. (I know that when
people complain about pain in their gut – or somewhere around there,
Vitalady always asks, “what does water taste like” – if it’s metallic, might
be an ulcer.) That said, I don’t know what meds you are on, or if maybe
one of those might be causing it.
I’d call the doc, just to be on the safe side.

Pam:
Thanks for the reply.
I went to the Dr who performed the bypass. I have lost 64 lbs in 11 weeks. Some
of the weight loss is disapportional which means I lose more upper than lower
body. It is putting a strain on my hips and the muscles around them are
inflammed. So I was given a anti inflammatory med for 6 days. My blood work was
gone.
As for the metallic taste, he asked that I stop taking multivitamins for 3 days
and see if that makes a difference.

Good deal. Sounds like you’ve got it covered. Thanks for letting
us know, because even if we’re not really active, we all do care for
each other. 64 lbs in 11 weeks is great! WOW. When you mentioned
pain at your hips, I couldn’t imagine what it could be - if it were
something like an obstruction, you wouldn’t get it on both sides at
once, so I hadn’t the faintest. This is good to know - something to
watch for. It does take a while, when we lose weight this quickly,
for our muscles to adjust. I know of friends who had backaches from
the weight loss that they didn’t have before. I’m sure it’s similar.
It’s good you checked.
