Obesity surgery

The next meeting of the Queens Metro Surgical Weight Loss Group is to
be held on Wednesday October 20, 2004 at 7:15pm. The purpose of the
meeting is to plan future events and to establish committees. If you
would like to bring in a healthy snack please do so, e-mail the
recipe so that we can share with those that are unable to attend (or
e-mail me the recipe so I can share it with the non local members).

tomorrow i go see the surgeon, i am so afraid that after everything i have been
through that he will tell me no, i can’t have the surgery. i have gone through
every hoop set before me, and i do appreciate that he is through. he had said he
wanted my doctor and the shrink to write letters for him. my doctor has done
this and then the surgeon called him and basically said it was up to the shrink
whether or not i get to have it. now the shrink mind you is making med changes
and wants another 6 weeks at least to decide what he wants to do. they have to
know this is something i am very serious about, i’ve stayed with it for a long
time now, i first filled out the paper work in feb. and its now oct. we are
probably looking at a november or december surgery date as it is, unless he says
yes tomorrow.

on the good thing, i have lost 7 pounds in 2 weeks, and have no idea how.
unless it is the med changes that are doing it. who knows i’m just glad to see
them gone, and i am hoping much much more of it will one day be gone too.

I am booked for surgery next monday and my daughter has a cold and I
feel one coming on. I emailed my surgeon to tell him. I am taking
tons of vitamin c and rest and fluid and I seem to be fighting it
for thr moment. Has anyone had the surgery feeling this way????

Are any of you from the Indianapolis area? Would like some feedback
on good places to buy all the suggested foods and places to eat out.
Surgery coming in in just a few weeks.

Also, how do you really feel just before and just after surgery?

well had surgery the 28 and from friday till today when I came home
I lost 8 lbs already my first Doc appt is tuesday

Tomorrow is my all liquid day before surgery on Tuesday, going to
try and stay as busy as I can, The one question I didnt ask is if I
can have decaff coffee the day before surgery, if anyone knows
please let me know.

hello there.

I had bypass on 9/22 and was discharged 9/24. I have experienced
some hunger pains but i find that drinking protein settles my belly.

I have my first post-op visit on 9/29.

I am so happy because I called Oxford today and I am approved. I
guess I knew there was really not alot to worry about but you hear
stories all the time. I must call and thank the surgical coordinator
for all her good work. Oxford is a great company and worth the extra
money definately in this case.My date for surgery is 10/18. I had my
daughter at the hospital where I am having the surgery. I am sooooo
excited!!!
and a little scard but oh well I am in gods hands now and the drs. My
surgeon has a couple of partners and I understand he works with one
of the other doctors when he does the surgery so that sounds good. He
also uses no drains and is so precise that he never has a problem. I
went to a meeting to find out what to expect. It was very interesting
and informative. The person who educated us was one of his patients
and also a nurse at the hospital. She was excellent an a really nice
person. Well my dream comes true to finally be thinner and be able to

My surgery is scheduled for October 22nd. Any pre-op advice on what
could make the recovery faster and smoother? Does everyone actually
get the "saggy" skin?

I am to go to Highland Hospital tom. at 10 am. Surgery is scheduled
for noon.

I probably won’t be home until Saturday.
