4 Days Post RNY Lap

Hello everyone ~

I am new to this group. I am hoping that there is someone out there
this evening that can set some of my worries at ease. I am 4 days
post RNY lap. I am still on the liquids diet (day 15 now!!!) and I
am running low on energy. I have developed pains in my sides - like
I ran too much or something… Is there anyone who has had similar
feelings? I am not taking anything for pain - as I can’t take
narcotic pain meds without vomitting and the children’s tylenol is
so sweet that it makes me gag.

Am I just beginning to stress for no reason???

Thanks for your help!!

HI, Rana, welcome to the list!

Hmm, 4 days post op. You’re definitely in the right time frame for running
low on energy - it takes a while for our energy levels to get back to
normal. You’re probably still feeling the effects of the anesthesia. (and
may well for a couple of weeks) The pains in the side I can’t address,
because I’m not sure what kind or where, but your surgeon might be able to -
have you considered a call to his office? I had gas really badly right
after my surgery which caused pains, but they were more located in the back
for me. They put you in some pretty weird positions for the lap rny, which
could cause some discomfort later, I’d guess. A leak can cause pain (and
*is* very serious) - I don’t mean for you to stress on this, but I’d call
the surgeon just to get your mind at rest.

Dear Rana: Congratulations! I would say that your new body is starting to feel
its changes. In any case, I would put a call into the nurse to explain to them
what you’re feeling it couldn’t hurt. You must pay attention to these "signs"
I’m sure soon you’ll be feeling better. The hard part is over.
