Just approved for Lap Band!

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

I’m so happy that I swear I could leap tall buildings in a single
bound! My insurance company called a little while ago to tell me I’m
approved and ready to go for Lap Band. I will be speaking with the
hopsital tomorrow to schedule the surgery.

Not staple line but disruption or tear?

Monday, May 28th, 2007

Hi, I had lap RNY almost 2 years ago, I am transected. I have done
wonderfully so far, with no complications to speak of – though I think my
stoma is enlarged as I don’t ever feel full. I eat fairly healthy foods -
no sugar, take all my vitamins, drink most of my protein and don’t each much
fat. Lately I have been dumping on foods that normally sit well (fat free
beans, split pea soup, peanut butter, low fat salad dressing). The dumping
occurs mostly in the evening, lasts for about an hour or so – I go straight
to bed because of the pain and I don’t want my kids to see me suffering. I
also become terribly full and sore below where my pouch is, on the left just
above my belly button. I am wondering if I might have stretched or torn
something below my pouch. Has anyone had experience with this or familiar
with my symptoms. I have stopped eating and am drinking only water decaf
tea and protein – I can even feel discomfort begin with several swallows of
protein and sometimes tea. I appreciate any input you have. I need to
either go to the Dr or stop worrying about it, just not sure which one to

Gastric Bypass: Causes Patients To Feel Cold

Our Body temperature is basically the result of your body producing and
radiating heat. The body is adept at keeping its temperature within a range even
though prevailing air conditions vary. A normal body temperature is 98.6°F. It’s
basically common during the period of excess weight loss for bariatric patients
to feel cold, even when they feel their temperature reads normal.

holiday help

Friday, May 25th, 2007

greetings,

Well here we are again at the kick off to the holiday season. As I am
planning out my holidays with family and friends I am accutely aware
of how much of the holiday traditions center around food. I feel like
I’m running a gauntlet. First I have children that will be trick or
treating, I don’t want to make a big deal out of their bringing home
bags and bags of candy so I have dedicated a cabinet just for them
that I will refuse to even open( I hope)next I have two of my boys
birthdays (nov 15&21) cake ice cream pizza I’d love to say the
temptation to have any of these was removed during surgery but it
wasn’t just the ability to eat them not the desire to have them. And
then before I know it…Bang..turkey day with all its fixins. more
temtations and deprivation oh joy,and I won’t even start on Christmas
but my wife bakes 14 different kinds of holiday cookies!

diabetic neuropathy

Friday, May 25th, 2007

Hello. My name is Amber and I live in Texas. I’ve been hanging out
for a while reading the kind and informative words everyone here has
had for newbies considering surgery like myself. Like alot of you,
I’ve been thinking of having surgery for a number of years. I finally
made an appt for consultation next week. There is one issue I am
wondering about…I know many of you have had diabetes prior to
surgery that has either resolved or is greatly improved since having
the surgery. Did anyone have diabetic neuropathy? If so, how is it
now? Thanks for your help…
