Hometown HMO insurance/Ohio

Hi everyone….I’m new to this group and I was wondering if anyone has
had any experience with Hometown HMO insurance ? I recently met a
young lady that had GBP 19 months ago, and she gave me a wonderful
book to read by Barbara Thompson called Weight Loss Surgery….Finding
the Thin Person Hiding Inside You. I’m 5′6" and weigh 291#, I want so
badly to have the surgery, but I can only find 2 Drs. in Akron, Ohio
that do this. One is at a hospital that I’m very afraid of (very bad
family experiences) and the other requires a $2000 deposit, even if
you have insurance coverage. I can’t go outside of Akron because of my
husbands’ work and our car won’t make it anywhere else such as
Cleveland. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I think you’ll need to call the HMO and find out exactly what they
cover (and what the requirements are) - all the policies are written
a little differently, even from company to company. You’ll also
have to find out which doctors are on their list of approved
providers. Start at the insurance company first (there’s usually an
800 number on their insurance card for customer service) -

As long as you’re not permanently excluded from WLS, and you have
providers in-plan, then you at least have a place to go from there.
