76 pounds
Well since December 30th, 2004, I have lost 76 pounds. I am going to
curves 3x a week, walking as well and the only thing I don’t do, is
drink my protein shakes…please help me with this, I have lost a
tremendous amount of my hair, thank God I had a head full or I would
be totally bald, I do have a hair piece that I wear from time to time,
it works great, but I’m soooooo tired of seeing my hair on the
bathroom floor, clogging the sink and tub and finding it in my
clothes…HELP!!!! I know that I’m lacking in protein, but I also
drink more than enough 1 percent milk, which has 8 grams of protein in
a cup….am I not getting enough, I drink about 3 to 4 glasses of milk
a day, plus I’ve added more meat to my diet, baked not fried…if
anyone has a suggestion on good tasting protein drinks, please let me
know. One more question, would anyone know if any insurance company
would pay for skin removal…and if so how did you get them to pay????
Thanks so much, Amanda….

You can’t really digest the protein out of your milk that you drink because
the part of your body where you break the proteins down into the amino acids
is the duodenum, and that’s bypassed. You can find a couple of pictures in
the files section that are from a nutrition text and show what is absorbed
where in the digestive track. That’s why I suggest that you do predigested
whey protein shakes. Meats simply are there to provide a sense of satiety,
and to keep you from eating more carbs (and milk is high in carbs, 14 per
cup).
All that said, it is not uncommon for us to lose hair from about 3 to 7
months, and you’re right on schedule. Surgery and anesthesia will cause
some of the hairs to go dormant, and it takes 3 months for them to start
falling out.. At around 7 months, assuming you’re getting your nutrition,
the hair loss should stop and you should be seeing some new little baby
hairs.
My favorite protein drink is a combination of Champion Nutrition Proscore
100, and the Champion Nutrition Pure Whey Stack Chocolate. I’m a big
chocolate freak. I make it with about 6 oz of water and throw in a little
cinnamon. That’s the shake and go version. I use the same proteins with
extra ice and dry non-dairy creamer and splenda to make a Wendy’s frosty
version of my protein drink.
Insurance wouldn’t pay for any of my plastics. I ended up having them done
in Costa Rica. I know some people have luck with getting theirs approved if
they’re having bad rashes or pain. Be sure to get all that documented with
doctor’s visits.
