one question
I’ve recently lost my job after 5 years and I’m at home til I find
another job…which will be never at the rate I’m going.lol. But I
find myself wanting to eat all day….HELP???? It seems my eating
habits are getting worse and I’m sooooo afraid of stretching my
stomach out again, which one question comes to mind, does that mean I
can stretch it out to the size it once was? I know I can stretch it,
but if I wanted to shrink it, would the liquid diet help again???
Please any advice on getting back on track…thanks Amanda

A certain amount of stretching will occur over time. The only way I’ve
found to catch the munchies is to basically follow my friend Karen’s "timer
diet" - it’s not hard. You eat or drink something every hour. First hour
it’s 8-10 oz water, second hour it’s 2-3 oz of food, third hour it’s a
protein shake (made with water), then water, food, shake again. At home I
have to set the timer. I do find that when I do this, consciously, the 2-3
oz of food will fill me up (surprisingly) - I think that eating in this
kind of fashion tends to "shrink" the stomach, in that you don’t do anything
in a large amount, but you’re still getting your nutrition. Don’t forget
your vites.

You’re welcome. I find that I usually start around 5am, wiht water,
(taking either my iron or my fosamax with that first shot), then end
around 7pm. Everyone’s schedule is individual, though. I do find
that I can get full on this.

Hi Amanda ~
I would highly recommend adding a schedule to your day and get out of the house
- do whatever you can to stay busy. That way you won’t be around the food, you
won’t get bored, etc. Just look back and remember what it was like to feel so
wonderful after having the surgery and remember what it was like prior to
surgery… You won’t want to go there again.
As far as shrinking your stomach again, I’m not sure… I’m not a nurse, but
nurse Pam on this support group will know… she’s awesome and always shares her
insight!! I would think that a liquid diet for a couple days would do it, or cut
out all snacks (if that’s what you’re doing), go back on your diet (like 2 wks
post-op, etc.)…
Take care and keep us posted on how you’re keeping yourself busy so you don’t
think about food…
