When did you last recognize the person behind the counter?

Simple Words
=============

I just moved to a new town where I don’t know anyone. I’ve had
phone conversations with friends and family but not a single
face-to-face conversation with anyone in the two weeks I’ve been
here.

Since I’ve moved, I’ve gotten in the habit of stopping at the
same convenience store each morning for a cup of coffee.

This morning, the owner recognized me from coming in every day
and commented on it. We had a brief conversation, and as I
turned to leave, he said, "God bless you; you are so nice."

I have lived on this since Surgery

I have clung to, and lived on, this one scripture since my surgery….
I thought some one else might like to hang onto this scripture as well….

Don’t Worry About Tomorrow

So don’t worry about tomorrow,
for tomorrow will bring its own worries.

Today’s trouble is enough for today.

Daily Supplements List

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

Hello everyone. I just finished the last of my tests before submitting my
paperwork to Blue Cross. I am wondering what vitamins and supplements you
took both pre and post-op. I had my nutritional evaluation back in April
that went through this, but I’m curious to hear what other have to say.

I’d also appreciate any other pre-op advice you might have. Skin care, etc?

Thanks everyone!

Pregnant??? it can’t be….

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

Well, I’m almost 8 months post op, and have lost 102 pounds since
then, but now I have an overwhelming life changing matter. We were
soo very careful not to get pregnant, but I am, at least 5 weeks as of
now. I’ve read some really horrific stories and then I’ve read some
really good ones, the ones with the happy ending. I am hoping mine is
a happy ending….PLEASE anyone, any suggestions….I know doctors say
not to get pregnant before 12 months post op, and of course it wasn’t
like I was trying, it was a big ooooops….but I feel every child is a
blessing and we’ll make the best of it…any tips on nutrition or
anything would be greatly appreciated…thanks Amanda

something on dumping??

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

I have a member that feels that she has no aversion to sugar after her
gastic by pass. While she may have a very high tolerance, she belives
that maybe "dumping syndrome" is all in the patients head. I was
wondering if anyone here has some good articles I could post to my
members. I tried to explain how a large dose of sugar getting sent too
quickly into the intestinal track causes the symptoms. But any
concrete article that you folks could dig up would be so helpful.
Not much activity here lately but I am hoping some of you are still
out there.
Thanks, Always, Ganice

advice needed

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007

My husband is USMC retired and I had a horrible experience at a
civilian doctor on Monday and would really like some advise.
I waited 7 weeks to see a nuerologist for the pains in my head. We
drove over an hour and sat for awhile in the waiting room. When I
finally got into see Dr. Pilch I got lectured on seeing the doctor too
much at the tax payers expense. Hello…..I have cancer, seeing the
doctor seems to go along with that.
Dr. Pilch seems to think that Tricare and welfare are paid out of the
same funds. I was so furious, I still am. I tried to contact Tricare
and give feedback, but I couldn’t find a place on thier website for
that.
My Dad died after 30 years in the Navy from Agent Orange and my Hubby
did 20 years in the Marines…….he should have expressed
appreciation instead of scolding me.
I called the doctor that referred me to Dr. Pilch and let him know

Flylady …housework challenged

Monday, May 14th, 2007

This is a website for those of us who are housework challenged. Those
who have good intentions when it comes to cleaning but never quite get
it done. Gentle reminders and suggestions are sent out to help us get
things done slowly one thing at a time rather than looking at the house
or apartment as a whole. It helps. My apartment is still messy but
then I just joined today. My nieces joined a few weeks ago and their
homes have really changed.

Personal Ads for us

Sunday, May 13th, 2007

There are hundreds of online dating services & personal ads. There have
them for handicap, for old folks, people who are amputees. Does anyone
know if there are personals or dating clubs for pre or post surgery
people?

Scared….

Saturday, May 12th, 2007

Nice to meet you Debb, my name is Amanda and I am post op since
December 30, 2004. I have lost around 80 pounds (haven’t weighed in
since 2 weeks ago)….so I think that’s about right. I really think
it depends on the individual on how well you will recover, if a
laproscopic is good, or have to be opened. Now with my doctor he
did a wonderful job and I had no complications either. He said I
was the easiest he has done since he’s started doing the surgery
several years ago, that made me feel awesome. I didn’t have to be
on a specific diet before the surgery, just two days before I had
nothing to eat except full liquids and believe me I stuck to it, I
knew what could happen if I didn’t, I wouldn’t get the surgery. I
believe my surgery happened so fast I didn’t have time to think, the
doctor’s office called me and said I had approval and that in 3
weeks the insurance wouldn’t pay (new year), so I had no time to
really think about it, which was so much easier for me to make the

one question

Saturday, May 12th, 2007

I’ve recently lost my job after 5 years and I’m at home til I find
another job…which will be never at the rate I’m going.lol. But I
find myself wanting to eat all day….HELP???? It seems my eating
habits are getting worse and I’m sooooo afraid of stretching my
stomach out again, which one question comes to mind, does that mean I
can stretch it out to the size it once was? I know I can stretch it,
but if I wanted to shrink it, would the liquid diet help again???
Please any advice on getting back on track…thanks Amanda
