DRINK YOUR WATER! A cautionary tale (x-post)
Nephrolithiasis. Isn’t that a neat sounding word?
Trust me, you do NOT want it! It’s medicalese for kidney stones.
Yesterday was excruciating. If you’ve ever had a
gall bladder attack, the pain reminded me of
that. I could NOT get comfortable! Posted
yesterday evening to a couple of the groups I’m
on, stating that I was going to be going to the
hospital as soon as hubby got home and a friend
got here to take care of Isaac. I asked for
advice as to what to suggest the doc look for/at.
One person (a nice guy (!) named Steve) said it
sounded to him like I was working on a kidney
stone. Long story short, looks like he was right.
Had a miserable night last night, in spite of the
vicodin. Pain at times was about 8 on a 1-10 scale!
Around eleven this morning, the pain went away. I
guess the rock moved along, although I’ve been
checking my urine to try to catch the rock so it
can be analyzed. Haven’t found the rock, but if I do, I’m gonna name it Steve!
ANYWAY, you know how we’re always being told to
drink our water? BELIEVE IT! You do NOT want a
kidney stone! Grab the water and drink. Drink
some more! Drink until your eyeballs are floating!

Hi Eleanor,
I’m new to the group but just wanted to say how glad I
am your pain has eased up. Sounds like quite an ordeal
you’ve been through. And thank you for the important
reminder. I usually manage 4 glasses M-F because it’s
sitting in front of me on my desk at work as a
reminder, but weekends I tend to forget, not bother,
etc. I will try much harder!
I hope you continue feeling better :O)
