I have not had it but my mom had trouble she had to make herself maybe call the
doctor and ask what they think. Goo luck Hope you feel better soon. I am not
looking forward to that but know its to a better life. :) hugs Donna

You’ll definitely need to sip your water, don’t drink like you used to.
Keep a glass beside you and sip, sip, sip. I had the hardest time, so I
understand. Also, if it takes a week or two before you start the protein
drinks, it won’t kill you. Right now you’ve got anesthesia still
working through you, so things will taste funny. If you do a protein
drink, make it up half size, so you don’t have so much to drink.

Thanks Pam…Yeah right now alot of stuff just tastes blah..to me.
Am I the only one who can’t wait for stage 3 to begin where I can atleast have
some tuna or turkey or something?? This fluid stuff is nasty and just very
    blah….
My main thing is trying to stay hydrated…that’s important I know..

Warm stuff is tolerated more easily than the cold stuff, even after
you’re healed up. Try some beef or chicken broth, decaf coffee, or
hot decaf tea. I have to sip coffee when I wake up or I can hardly
eat the rest of the day.

I haven’t tried a huge number of protein shakes, so I can’t say much
about the different varieties. I do know that I tried the Boost High
Protein drink in chocolate and I actually like it. I keep some on
hand for mornings when I don’t have time to do my coffee-sipping
routine but still need some breakfast. Also try some skim milk with a
package of Carnation Instant Breakfast mixed in.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Nicole,
I had surgery on June 7th. Almost 2 weeks ago, boy, time flies. I use
Iso-Pure protein powder. I mix it with either aple juice, Lactaid 1% milk, or
any other sugar free juice I have on hand. I also add sugar free flavorings.
The ones they use for Lattes work great. Iso-Pure has 50 grams of protein in
one serving and iff you mix it with 12 ounces of milk, it’s 60 grams.
I feel fantastic, no pain really. I have started walking already, I hear
that the faster you start walking, around the house, whatever, it helps a lot.
I have my first post-op today! Back from post-op appt. I lost 9lbs!
Feel free to keep in touch,
    Betty

The best proteins for us are predigested whey proteins, as we no longer
have the part of our bodies that can actually digest the proteins out of
foods (or milk) - Milk is great comfort food, but it has a high sugar
content, and many people are lactose intolerant after surgery, so use it
knowingly. The milk protein is not available for us like it is for a
normie. Walking is GREAT for all of us, really helps with the weight
    loss.

Most protein manufacturers state that the max a body will absorb at one
sitting is 30gms of protein. I don’t have any studies to back that up,
but I just consider that if the manufacturers say it, and they want to
sell as much as they can, it’s probably accurate.

Also, please be sure to get your supplements… they’re critical.
Calcium citrate and B12 and a host of others. I had to get the

chewables in the beginning, and have just continued on with them.
